‎EDO SPEAKER, LAWMAKERS HONOUR OBA OF BENIN ON BIRTHDAY AND 9TH CORONATION ANNIVERSARY 

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku, today led a delegation of lawmakers to the Palace of the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, CFR, to celebrate the revered monarch on the occasion of his birthday and the 9th anniversary of his ascension to the ancient Benin throne.

‎Accompanying the Speaker were the Deputy Speaker, Rt.Hon. Atu Osamwonyi; the Majority Leader, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu; and several other members of the Assembly, who joined dignitaries, traditional chiefs, and well-wishers in paying homage to the Oba during the colourful and historic celebration.

‎In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Agbebaku congratulated the Royal Father for his enduring leadership, wisdom, and fatherly guidance, which have remained instrumental in fostering peace, unity, and cultural pride across Edo State.

‎“On behalf of the Edo State House of Assembly, I extend heartfelt congratulations to His Royal Majesty for his steadfastness and unwavering commitment to the progress and cultural heritage of our people. As a House, we will continue to celebrate with the Palace throughout this period of commemoration,” the Speaker stated.

‎Other lawmakers, including Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu (Majority Leader), Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian (Minority Leader), Hon. Andrew Uzamere, Hon. Lecky Hussein, Hon. Frank Omosigho, and Hon. Sunday Ifada, also paid glowing tributes to the Oba, describing his reign as a beacon of peace, cultural preservation, and sustainable development for Edo State.

‎The visit underscored the strong bond between the traditional institution and the legislative arm of government, by as both continue to work in harmony to promote peace, progress, and the cultural identity of the Edo people.
