Wasiu Ayinde, a reliable link between the old and the young -Mega 99
Gospel-juju singer, Abel Dosunmu, popularly called Mega 99, has described fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, as a reliable link between the old and the young.
Mega 99 notes in a tribute to Wasiu, otherwise called K1 de Ultimate, who clocked 60 last Friday, that his (Wasiu’s) place in the hall of fame of history is secure.
According to him, Wasiu personifies innovation and resilience.
Mega 99 explains that at a time that fuji creator, Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, and his contemporary, Alhaji Kollington Ayinla, were ruling the Fuji turf, Wasiu chose to test his talent and stake his destiny on the scene.
“Since 1984 when he announced his arrival with Talazo ’84, he has never relented. I also note that KWAM 1 never stops experimenting with new styles of singing. These have helped his career a lot and it is a lesson that younger talents need to learn.”
Dosunmu, whose albums include Mega superstar, E ma Jo, Money and Supplication, calls on Nigerian musicians to use the occasion of celebrating Wasiu to entrench peace and harmony.
